WATCH: French For Cartridge – Piff Paff Pow

Madcap cut from Londoners' forthcoming second album

London-based oddball pop duo French For Cartridge are releasing their second album on July 15 via Dinner With Daisy Records, and as a taster here’s the video for LP cut ‘Piff Paff Pow’.

The band, comprised of Catherine Kontz and Henri Växby, describe it as "A song about Batman and Robin, with a sci-fi video filled with spaceships and planets and a suitably cartoonish jump-cut of a tune", and that’s a pretty good assessment: underneath the rolling nursery rhyme vocal melody and cheeky accordion swells, the track gets punctuated by proggy snare rolls and staccato rhythmic punches. As revealing of Kontz and Växby’s day job as composers as that deft musicality is, it also gives way to an ace, defiantly summery chorus, forming a nice counterpoint to the video about a shrinking spaceman lost in a retro-futurist galaxy.

The track will get released as a AA-side limited edition 7" with ‘Boxes’ on August 19; head to the band’s website for full details.
