The launch party for Freaky Dancing – an anthology of the Haçienda’s legendary unofficial acid house fanzine – will take place at Manchester’s Soup Kitchen this Saturday (2 March).
Classical Uproar will be performing acoustic versions of rave classics, whilst acid house DJ Suddi Raval of Together (they of ‘Hardcore Uproar’ fame) will take to the decks for an old school set. Also, a book signing will take place alongside a conversation between the anthology editors, Paul Gill and Ste Pickford, and tQ editor John Doran.
Freaky Dancing compiles all 11 volumes of the notorious rave fanzine, which was distributed outside the Haçienda between July 1989 and August 1990.
Last week, The Quietus published the 276-page anthology, compiling all of the fanzines for the first time since their original publication, alongside photographs, fliers and sketches.
The book also features a foreword from acid house pioneer A Guy Called Gerald, and a host of previously unseen comic strips.
Freaky Dancing is available to buy, physically and for Kindle here and tickets for this Saturday’s Book Launch can be purchased here.
