Łukasz Warna-Wiesławski, former co-curator of the annual Polish festival Unsound, has launched a label, called Tancé.
Deriving its name from the Polish for ‘the dances’, Tancé’s inaugural release is Gusła (Human Rites), an EP by producer Avtomat. The four-tracker takes inspiration from the recent protest movements in Poland, which have focused specifically on LGBTQ+ rights. The producer, who is part of Poland’s Oramics collective, was arrested while protesting in Warsaw in June.
Avtomat describes Gusła (Human Rites) as a "collective scream of a community put up against a wall." You can listen to ‘Nieludzie (Ignorance Ha)’ from the EP just above.
Speaking about Tancé, Łukasz Warna-Wiesławski says: "My idea is to try to get producers to use samples of local instruments and drums or study folk dance rhythms, so that we add something completely new instead of pretending we’re from Berlin or London."
Tańce will release Gusła (Human Rites) on November 6, 2020.
