Brainfeeder boss and cosmic hip-hop explorer Steven Ellison, aka Flying Lotus, has announced that his long-awaited new album will be released on October 2nd via Warp, report Pitchfork.
Until The Quiet Comes, which was originally slated to land earlier this year, marks the follow-up to 2010’s ambitious Cosmogramma, whose approach to arrangement, sequencing and composition was inspired by the work of Ellison’s late aunt Alice Coltrane. Where that album blasted boldly into outer space after the relatively grounded and earthly concerns of 2008’s excellent Los Angeles long player, he has already revealed in a recent interview with The Stool Pigeon that Until The Quiet Comes will include "moments that are more banging" than its predecessor. He explained that the new album will be more of an "amalgamation" of his previous styles, something that apparently extends to the collaborators he’s chosen to work with: he’s confirmed that Radiohead’s Thom Yorke will again be making an appearance, after turning up on Cosmogramma‘s ‘And The World Laughs With You’.
