The Flaming Lips Announce New Album, ‘American Head’

The 13-track record is produced by longtime collaborator Dave Fridmann

The Flaming Lips have a new album on the way.

Titled American Head, the 13-track LP was produced by longtime collaborator Dave Fridmann with the group. One track features guest vocals from Kasey Musgraves, while a video has been revealed for another track called ‘My Religion Is You’. You can watch that above.

"The music and songs that make up the American Head album are based in a feeling," frontman Wayne Coyne says. "A feeling that, I think, can only be expressed through music and songs. We were, while creating it, trying to NOT hear it as sounds… but to feel it. Mother’s sacrifice, Father’s intensity, Brother’s insanity, Sister’s rebellion…I can’t quite put it into words."

Bella Union / Warner will release American Head on September 11, 2020.
