Canadian punk rock crew Fist City have delivered another gut punch in the shape of ‘Let’s Rip’, and its accompanying video, directed by frontman Kier Fist. Much like their material from last year’s It’s 1983, Grow Up – which is being reissued by Transgressive Records on May 19th, with two extra tracks including ‘Let’s Rip’ itself – the song is as cathartic as it is confrontational. “Coming up with the idea for the video was pretty easy," says Kier Fist in the accompanying text. "The song is about falling for a knife-wielding tough-gal in a girl gang so we just went with that. We told our pals to meet us at this dumpy bar called Cudos with weapons and fake blood. Our bass player Brittany and few other friends bartend there and knew that the bar owner was out of town; so we pretty much took the place over. I wanted the video to be campy, violent, and fun. The whole thing was done on a zero dollar budget; it came together with a few pitchers of beer and the radness of a pack of weirdo pals who came out to get vicious and bloodied.”
