This year’s Meltdown at the Southbank Centre sees Guy Garvey taking up the role as curator and the first set of acts set to play this year’s event have today been announced.
This year’s festival will include a day dedicated to addressing the ongoing refugee crisis with events culminating in a concert featuring Robert Plant, Nick Mulvey, Nadine Shah and Garvey himself. Also billed to play across the festival’s ten days are Femi Kuti, Laura Marling, I Am Kloot, The Staves, Connan Mockasin and Lift To Experience who will play their first show in 15 years. The Meltdown The River programme will offer boat parties with live music as well as afterparties hosted by purveyors of northern soul Different Strokes and disco heads Drunk At Vogue.
