Ringo Starr's personal copy was produced first and sold at auction for record-breaking amount

Ringo Starr’s own copy of the Beatles’ The White Album, sold for a world record $790,000 at auction over the weekend.

As Rolling Stone reports, the record, numbered 0000001, carried a pre-auction estimate of $40,000 to $60,000 but surpassed that figure considerably during an auction of instruments and various collectors’ items from the estate of Starr and his wife, Barbara Bach. Speaking previously to Rolling Stone, Starr had said: “Whoever gets it, it will have my fingerprints on it.” A drum kit used in the recording of a number of the Beatles’ hits, including ‘She Loves You’, sold for $2.2 million also.
