First Bauhaus Recording To Be Released

The first-known recording made by Bauhaus, six weeks after they formed, will be released to mark their 40th anniversary

Bauhaus have announced a new release capturing their first recording session which took place six weeks after they formed as a band.

The Bela Session was recorded on January 29, 1979 and will be released in November to mark four decades since the band first formed.

It’s the first release of that complete recording session and includes ‘Bela Lugosi’s Dead’ – the studio recording of that track is made available here digitally and officially for the first time ever as well as on vinyl for the first time in over 30 years – alongside three previously unreleased tracks and an early B-side. The audio from the session has been newly mastered from the original analogue tape.

Beggars Arkive will also be marking the band’s anniversary with a series of reissues on limited edition colour vinyl – full details of those releases will be announced soon.

The Bela Session is released digitally and on vinyl via Leaving Records on November 23. You can pre-order it here.
