Double Whammy! The large ensemble led by Mats Gustafsson, The Fire! Ensemble, and North East London cum Baingstoke destroyers Sly And The Family Drone are appearing at The Dome in Tufnell Park, London, this Wednesday.
The 15 piece psych jazz group (formed round the nucleus of Gustafsson, Johan Berthling and Andreas Werlin and and fronted by vocalists Mariam Wallentin and Sofia Jernberg) have been regular fixtures in tQ’s Albums Of The Year lists and were last on our radar because of their excellent Ritual live album.
They are back with a new, acoustic line-up and dominant focus on strings and clarinets for this Arrival! tour.
And Sly And The Family Drone are back on full ecstatic strength after near disaster in the form of front person Matt Cargill’s serious road accident in France earlier this year while touring with Bruxa Maria.
