Field Music Announce Two Live Dates

Sunderland band to perform live soundtrack to 20s silent documentary

Field Music have announced a couple of upcoming live shows, including their sole London date of the year.

They’ll be performing a live soundtrack to the 1929 silent documentary Drifters, the product of Scottish filmmaker John Grierson tracing a day in the life of a Shetland Islands’ herring fleet. Field Music’s soundtrack, which has seen them reuniting with original keyboard player Andrew Moore, was originally commissioned by the Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival, where they’ll be playing it on September 27, before heading down to London’s Islington Town Hall for a performance on November 9.

Says the band’s David Brewis (about to tour as part of Eleanor Friedberger’s backing band): “We intended to take a breather from regular band activities this year after a fairly hectic schedule touring for the last two Field Music records and this is exactly the kind of project we wanted to make time for; something which forces us to think and work in a different way and which will hopefully spur us to make something different and inspiring."

Head to the Berwick festival’s site for full details on the performance, and get tickets for the London date here.
