Field Day: Horrors, EIY, Fat Whites & More

Ace second wave of acts for London two-dayer announced

Field Day have just unveiled a magnificent barrage of second names for this year’s line-up. First up, The Horrors, whose new album, following up 2011’s Skying, is due this year, and Temples, whose debut LP is also forthcoming, will be supporting Pixies on day two, Sunday 8 June, alongside POND. On the Saturday, East India Youth and Fat White Family, undoubtedly two of the best new acts out there, will be joined by Jagwar Ma, bringing their ace, rave-friendly live show to Victoria Park, as well as Blood Orange, Ghostpoet, Simian Mobile Disco and Lunice, one half of TNGHT, whose supremely banging set closed proceedings on the Bugged Out stage last year. There’s also a trio of new back to backs added, with the first, Daniel Avery joining up with his Phantasy label boss Erol Alkan, bearing the promise of brilliance, alongside Jackmaster & Oneman, Slackk & Samename and the previously-announced Dixon & Ame. Beyond that, there’s Nordic cosmic disco master Todd Terje, eclectic, forward-thinking producer Ryan Hemsworth, SBTRKT, Jaakko Eino Kalevi, All We Are, Gerd Janson, DJ Barely Legal, SOHN, Teleman, Pawws, Éclair Fifi, Charlotte OC, rounded off by Sophie and Courtney Barnett, two majorly tipped new artists for this year. Newly-announced DJs are Evian Christ (whose turn at the decks was a highlight of last year’s Pitchfork Paris festival), Tim Burgess, Vessel, Huw Stephens and Moxie.

This second round joins the already-billed Omar Souleyman, Jon Hopkins, James Holden, Oneohtrix Point Never, Danny Brown, Jessy Lanza, Seun Kuti & Fela’s Egypt 80, Warpaint, John Wizards, Sky Ferreira, Money, Dusky, George Fitzgerald and The Temper Trap – in short, an embarrassment of riches.
