The excellent new Festival 23 comes to the South Yorkshire woodland in July with a programme spanning music, theatre and poetry among others.
This celebration of Discordianism is set to feature contributions from graphic novel genius Alan Moore, an installation from conceptual artist Jimmy Cauty and a headline performance from neo-prog giant Knifeworld. You can check out Alan Moore talking about the event above.
Other musical acts include Super Weird Substance, Richard Norris, Pete Woosh, AOS3, Cowtown, Thee Hairee Kuntz, Daniel WJ Mackenzie, Cuckoo Clocks, The Tiny Minds, FOUR MANATEES, The Loveburns, Mr Vast and the Vast Minority, Binnsclagg, Map 71, Redbus Noface, Space Blaster, Vibe Machine, G I B L E T, Barringtone, THF Drenching, Cosmic Trigger Cabaret, Bloom and Super Weird Substance.
This "gathering of mischevious spirits, subversive individuals" and "seekers with creative intent" is collectively owned, organised and and managed by grassroots collective Notwork 23. Lacking the support of arts council funding, the group have set up an Indiegogo campaign, offering eternal gratitude, a blessing from the goddess of chaos and other goodies in return for contributions.
Festival 23 takes place from July 22-24 at a secret location near Sheffield. For more information or to donate, click here, and for tickets, click here.
