Emerging out of the depths of a medieval castle in Itra, Italian plumbers of the darkest depths Father Murphy have released their new EP, Pain Is On Our Side Now, via Aagoo Records/Boring Machines. Its four tracks are split over two 10" discs, and can be played either individually or with one/three and two/four in sync, with the effect leaving behind the gimmickry of previous uses of this format, as our reviewer Tristan Bath writes, for something that "ritualises the listening experience, and when peeking into the murky and bizarre world of Father Murphy, it should most definitely require something of a ritual to earn rite of passage."
Ahead of their UK tour dates beginning next week, we’ve got the video for opener ‘Let The Wrong Rise With You’, featuring animation from fellow Italian Luca Dipierro, a deft collaboration for Father Murphy, given that it culminates in something as weirdly charming and unerringly unsettling as their music; watch above, and check the dates below:
