LISTEN: Carl Craig Remixes Factory Floor

Hear the Detroit techno pioneer's rework of Turn It Up ahead of UK tour starting tomorrow

As we reported last week, Factory Floor will be releasing the opener of their self-titled debut LP, ‘Turn It Up’, as a single on December 9, with remixes from Laurel Halo and Carl Craig. Now, ahead of their UK tour dates beginning tomorrow, they’ve posted the latter online. Instead of the original’s drastic start, just an incessant pulse followed by a kick drum stomp, Craig fills the track out – he taps the source of the insistent percussion, but lets it cycle over and layers it up, firing fragmented, mutated vocal samples across it, before the kicks emerge at the two-minute mark. What he works towards, though, is a total transformation, a maximalist synth chord crescendo rising up and subsuming the ringing drum machines and echoey voices – have a listen below, with the tour dates following:

DECEMBER

Tue 3 – Heaven, London

Wed 4 – Belgrave Music Hall, Leeds

Thu 5 – Kazimier, Liverpool

Fri 6 – Stereo, Glasgow

Sat 7 – Gorilla, Manchester
