LISTEN: New Exploded View

Anika-led trio Exploded View return with new album and single

Exploded View have announced a new album, entitled Obey. The second LP from the German-Mexican trio, it’s due out in September and sees them continue their relationship with the Sacred Bones label. You can listen to the propulsive lead single ‘Raven Raven’ above.

Exploded View is a collaboration between former political journalist and Stone’s Throw alum Anika, Los Fancy Free songwriter and producer Martin Thulin and Hugo Quezada, with this latest album seeing them downsize to a trio from the quartet that worked on their debut. Unlike their self-titled last record, <a href="http://thequietus.com/articles/20792-exploded-view-self-titled-album-review" target=“out">an improvised album recorded in San Rafael, Obey moves away from live ensemble recording and embraces the studio.

Describing ‘Sleepers’, a cut from the upcoming release, the band urges listeners to "free yourself from your own prison. Remove the shackles of fear to find that the unknown is not so scary and can be full of precious discoveries, though sometimes only possible during sleep.”

Obey is out on September 28.
