Bobby Gillespie has no fear. Whether cycling through the mean streets of Stoke Newington or having Nick Cave take the piss when he joined Grinderman at ATP ("this is the former drummer from the Jesus & Mary Chain"), Mr Gillespie remains resolute in his mission to convince the world that he’s the very incarnation of hip-pivoting rock and roll. It is presumably this steely determination that’s convinced Bob that the recent Anglo-Serbian tensions inspired by the Kosovan declaration of independence are no reason not to head to Europe’s finest festival this summer. Primal Scream are among the latest selection of acts to be confirmed for EXIT, which takes place in the Petrovaradin Fortress on the River Danube at Novi Sad from July 10th to 13th 2008.
Other acts who’ll be entertaining thousands of Tuborg-fuelled Europeans (and a bunch of mangled English ravers digging the fact that in Serbia it is still very much 1994) include Ministry, Ben Watt, Gogol Bordello, The Hives, Paul Weller and the Sex Pistols.
