Escape-ism is the new solo project of Ian Svenonius who is also part of a number of bands including Nation of Ulysses, The Make-Up, Weird War and XYZ.
Aptly titled Introduction to Escape-ism, the album sees Svenonius pull together a collection of tracks with the use of a drum box, guitar, tape player and of course his voice. Premiering above is the video for ‘Iron Curtain’, presenting monochrome animated visuals of angular shapes and gun-toting nuns set to Svenoniu’s combination of scuzzy guitars and vocals.
The album is set for release via Merge Records on November 10. Svenonius will tour the UK next month, kicking off with a show at The Islington in London on November 18 and following it up the night after at Manchester’s The Peer Hat. From there he goes on to Glasgow’s Broadcast for a show on November 20 with the UK tour wrapping up the following night at Spanky Van Dykes in Nottingham. You can pre-order the album here.
