Eric Chenaux shares a video for 'There's Our Love' from his just-released new album

Eric Chenaux has shared a new video for ‘There’s Our Love’, lifted from his excellent latest album, Slowly Paradise, which was released last Friday. You can watch the video above.

The video sees Chenaux demonstrating his nimble fretwork unable to take his eyes off the TV showing tennis in front of him. "About 10 years ago I recorded myself playing nylon-string guitar while watching the men’s semi-finals of the US Open," says Chenaux.

He continues: "Thinking about Paul Bley’s ‘Open To Love’, I called it ‘US Open To Love’. The stereo microphone was placed between myself and the television so the left speaker was mostly guitar and the right mostly tennis. I listen to this recording often. I hear a looseness in this music that I wish I heard more of in some of my other music. Due to the irritating commentary I have not released this recording. I often thought of giving it another go with less florid commentary (hard to find these days) but I have not gotten around to it.

"The video-shoot for ‘There’s Our Love’ is a trio improvisation with tennis and the album version of the song playing in the room: me on barely audible un-amplified electric guitar, Ryan Driver on synth (as a duo we perform as The Guayaveras) and Eric Cazdyn on the camera."

Slowly Paradise is out now and can be streamed in full here. Chenaux is also soon set to tour the UK in support of the album, and you can see the list of dates below. Keep your eye on tQ for a feature interview with Eric Chenaux coming next week.
