Emperor To Reunite To Play Wacken

Norwegian black metallers to headline next year's Wacken Open Air

Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles report that Norwegian black metal group Emperor will be reuniting to headline the 25th edition of Germany’s Wacken Open Air festival, taking place from July 31 – August 2 2014.

The band, formed around the core duo of singer and guitarist Vegard Sverre Tveitan, aka Ihsahn, and drummer Tomas ‘Samoth’ Haugen originally split in 2001 after releasing four studio albums, though have reunited a couple of times since for live dates.

The report also mentions that there was word of a possible new studio album, along with further tour dates next year – we’ll report any updates on the story, and in the meantime, have a watch of them performing ‘With Strength I Burn’ from Wacken in 2006:
