Ninja Tune’s purveyor of great, dubstep-tinged pop Emika is to release her new single ‘3 Hours’ next Monday, 13th February. As well as featuring the title track – the opener from last year’s Emika album – it also features a collaboration with fellow Berlin resident Jimmy Edgar, which you can stream below. It’s a nice contrast to the stark original, with the duo setting Emika’s detached, ice-queen vocals to an entirely brighter, swaggering electro-pop backing.
Emika ‘Hit Me’ feat. Jimmy Edgar by Ninja TuneEdgar is something of a veteran. Originally from Detroit, he has a very impressive back catalogue stretching from Warp and !K7 to recent work for Semantica and Instra:mental’s label Nonplus+. Yesterday it was announced that Edgar is to release his first new material in two years through Hotflush Recordings. A single, ‘This One’s For The Children’, is due out on March 17th, with his third album to follow later this year through the same label.
