Emika will release a new album later this week.
Titled Klavirni Teman, it sees Emika turn her focus entirely to the piano, and is the second neo-classical album to come from the producer and composer. You can hear a track from the album, ‘Dilo 24’, just below.
Klavirni Temna takes its title from the Czech for ‘Dark Piano’, and it was recorded while Emika was pregnant with her first child, Silvy.
"I recorded in a state of ultra hyped up creativity combined with a massive fear about losing my identity or creativity as an artist once I would become a mother," says Emika. "I had this record on the shelf for a long time ready while I was nursing Silvy and one day I decided I better get back to finishing the production and listen to the vinyl test presses.
"At that moment Silvy came in from her nap and touched my tummy and said, ‘mummy’, which freaked me out, as she seemed to associate these pieces and the piano sound with me. Music is a powerful and sometimes unexplainable force."
The album will be the final release on her Emika Records label before she moves on to a new venture this year. More details will follow later in the year.
Emika Records will release Klavirni Temna on February 14.
