Electronic Music Festivals Banned In Buenos Aires

Argentinian capital cracks down on events following deaths linked to drugs

Buenos Aires has banned electronic music festivals following the deaths of six people at Time Warp festival earlier this month.

As the Guardian reports, the Buenos Aires mayor, Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, said the measure would remain in effect until the city passes new laws to prevent drug abuse at such events. The deaths at the festival were all linked to drug use by authorities with further people taken critically ill following the event. However, overcrowding was also reported at the event. The event, which began in Germany in 1994, was being held in the Argentinian capital for the third year.
