Eighties Matchbox Appear In Nike Ad

'Chicken', from the punk madcaps' first LP, gets an unlikely reboot courtesy of a Nike ad

Here’s something a tad surreal for your Saturday – gnarly punk/rockabilly madcaps The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster have cropped up in about as unlikely a place as you’d imagine: a Nike advert (via The Stool Pigeon). The song in question – ‘Chicken’ is taken from the band’s deranged and brilliant first LP Horse Of The Dog, originally released way back in 2002. They never quite topped that album’s under half-an-hour’s worth of low-swung, sleazy intensity, and sadly the album was never the hit it sorely deserved to be, but it’s pretty enjoyable to hear it making such an unexpected appearance a decade down the line.
