EFG London Jazz Festival has confirmed an extensive cast of acts joining the lineup for its 2025 edition later this year.
Among them is London-born saxophonist and composer Nubya Garcia, who will headline a closing event at HERE at Outernet featuring specially commissioned visuals. Mulatu Astatke is also set to play at the same venue a week earlier in one of two gigs for this year’s festival. The other one will take place at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, and both sets will see him perform music from across his career, as well as his upcoming studio album, Mulatu Plays Mulatu.
Another show at Royal Festival Hall will see Malian singer Oumou Sangaré play live alongside the BBC Symphony Orchestra, while pianist Bill Laurance is being lined up to play at London’s Cadogan Hall, following the September release of new album Lumen.
The Barbican will be the host venue for a showcase by talent development programme Take Five, who will mark 20 years with a show featuring specially composed music by alumni such as Shabaka Hutchings, Camilla George and Jason Yarde. Jazz drummer Tom Skinner of acts such as Sons Of Kemet and The Smile, meanwhile, is lined up to headline a solo gig at Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall.
Other highlights across the latest round of additions include Sam Amidon; Adrian Younge; Anthony Joseph & Dave Okumu; and Sarathy Korwar Drum Ensemble.
They all join the previously announced likes of Tune-Yards, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Tortoise, The Weather Station and many others on the bill for this year’s event. As ever, the festival will take place across several London locations, including Southbank Centre, EartH and Barbican, as well as Union Chapel, Islington Assembly Hall and Village Underground.
EFG London Jazz Festival will take place from November 14 to 23, 2025. Find more information here.
