Edwyn Collins has announced details of a new album, titled Badbea. Taken from it, you can hear lead track ‘Outside’ above.
It’s Collins’ ninth solo album and follows six years on from his last solo record, Understated. The new album is his first since he relocated his home and studio to a new base of Helmsdale on the north east coast of Scotland.
The album is inspired by Collins’ return to the village that his grandfather lived, and where Collins spent some time growing up. The title comes from an abandoned village on a cliff top a short distance from Helmsdale.
"It’s all about looking forward I guess," Collins says of the album, "I’m happy. Content with life."
Badbea is out on March 29 via Collins’ own AED label.
