Editions Mego has teamed up with INA-GRM to launch a new series of releases called Portraits GRM.
The run of releases is getting underway with new works by Jim O’Rourke, Lucy Railton and Max Eilbacher. Railton and Eilbacher have each contributed a piece to a split LP, while O’Rourke’s Shutting Down Here will be given a standalone release.
Shutting Down Here, a press release explains, covers a period of 30 years, from O’Rourke’s first visit to Paris’ GRM to the present day. It features Eiko Ishibashi on piano, Atsuko Hatano on violin and viola, and Elvind Lonning on trumpet.
On the other new release, Lucy Railton contributes ‘Forma’, a piece for cello and multichannel tape that was first performed at GRM’s Multiphonies Concert Series. You can hear it above. Max Eilbacher’s ‘Metabolist Meter (Foster, Cottin, Caetani And A Fly)’, meanwhile, is said to involve a recording of a dying fly.
All three recordings are available digitally now via the Portraits GRM Bandcamp. The vinyl release will follow on July 1.
