The newest single release from Ed Dowie’s excellent The Uncle Sold album is ‘David Is Unwell’, and the video is as lovely and unsettling as the song. Over a slowly jaunty brass parp, Dowie’s sweetly unhinged vocal tells the hard-to-parse story of David, who may or may not get better.
Judging by this beautiful and spooksome short film, things do not end well for David. It was shot on the isle of Eigg this summer, during the Howlin Fling festival (organised by Lost Map aka Dowie’s record label), and it features an unnamed hungover festivalgoer as The Shark. Have a watch, have a listen, shudder and swoon.
