London Gets New Venue, The Drumsheds

Broadwick Venues, which also operates Printworks, will open new 10,000-capacity venue The Drumsheds in June

A new 10,000-capacity venue is opening in North London in June.

Operated by Broadwick Venues, who also control Printworks and other spaces, it will be situated at the Meridian Water site next to Tottenham Marshes and is being developed as part of a massive £6 billion regeneration project in the area by Enfield Council.

It will open on June 7 with this year’s edition of Field Day, which announced last year that it would be moving to the new site. The space is made up of four warehouses which are all linked, as well as 10 further acres of outdoor space which will be put to use for Field Day and other events.

Broadwick Venues is currently pulling together a programme of further club and gig events to run after Field Day. A new Overground station called Meridian Water will open next month to accommodate visitors to The Drumsheds, and will be around a 10-minute walk from the venue. It will connect the site to Liverpool Street and Stratford.

Due to the venue’s distance from residential areas, Broadwick Venues has said that it will be able to go later and louder than many other similar spaces in London, and the promoter have been given the local council’s blessing to do so.

"The Drumsheds is Broadwick Venues’ most ambitious project to date and a huge boost for the capital; multiple warehouse spaces, the largest of which has 10,000 plus capacity, along with a ten-acre outdoor festival space," said Broadwick Venues Managing Director Bradley Thompson in a statement. "It epitomises both Broadwick Venues’ dedication to quality, innovation and creativity, and Meridian Water’s commitment to be a true 24-hour destination. We’re confident that people will be as blown away by it as we are."

Field Day runs from June 7 to 8, 2019, with a lineup that includes Skepta, Jorja Smith, Julia Holter, The Black Madonna, Todd Terje and lots more.
