Wire Announce DRILL: BRIGHTON

...featuring SWANS, Grumbling Fur, East India Youth, Savages, Toy and many, many, many more

Here’s a sight to blaze your synapses this Wednesday morning: Wire have announced that they’ll be hosting another of their DRILL festivals, this time in Brighton, running from December 4th to 7th, and there’s a line-up that’s nothing short of eyeball-melting. Firstly, brace yourself: Swans and Wire will be staging a one-off collaboration, performing an extended version of Wire’s ‘Drill’. Beyond that, there’s the trifling matter of meandering through this mighty billing: East India Youth, Grumbling Fur, Savages, Toy, Gold Panda, Damo Suzuki, Githead, Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin, performing Suspiria, CUTS, Swans’ Thor Harris, Courtney Barnett, The Wytches, MONO, Telegram and more yet to be announced, with a planned 100+ bands due to be on the line-up – have a look at the poster below. Early bird tickets are available from this Friday, September 19th, here.

We are told that, "The concepts behind DRILL: FESTIVAL are simple: to challenge preconceptions of Wire. To showcase their impact on and relationship with groups and artists from younger generations, to connect with both new and established artists whose work they find inspiring and feel that they have a kinship with." This follows the DRILL: LONDON event in March 2012 when Wire and The Quietus collaborated on a series of gigs that featured the likes of Teeth Of The Sea, Klara Lewis, East India Youth, Scanner, Malka Spigel, Toy, It Hugs Back, and ended with umpteen people crowding onto the stage in Heaven to form the Pink Flag Guitar Orchestra and play the following unholy racket. The Pink Flag Guitar Orchestra will return in Brighton in December.
