Oneman, the London-based DJ and weekly Rinse FM show host who initially made his name mixing dubstep with older garage at a time when that approach was a real rarity, has today released a new mixtape for free download. Entitled Solitaire Vol. 1, it’s a follow-up of sorts for the two full studio mix CDs he’s released for Fabric and Rinse, and features his customary blend of Stateside rap and sub-driven UK-borne dance music. The tracklist is sprawling – everything from Fatima Al Qadiri’s grime-rooted virtual reality club music to Peverelist and Kowton’s Hessle-signed banger ‘Raw Code’, early grime, Diplo and Waka Flocka Flame (among many others) and finds him mixing tracks into one another with typical flair. It also features a few of Oneman’s own, previously unheard, edits. You can listen to the mix below, and for a free download, head across to Oneman’s website here.
“The tape was a gamble really, mostly off the cuff mixes," says a quote from Oneman accompanying the mix – "a game of subsonic solitaire, where risks sometimes pay off." You can read the full tracklist at the Soundcloud page, and for more where that came from there’s a downloadable archive of his weekly Rinse FM sessions on the Rinse website: click here.
