Here’s some excellent news with which you can blaze forth into the merry yonder of the weekend: Baltimore four-piece Dope Body return, following 19 months (!) of touring after 2012’s Drag City debut Natural History with a new album on the label, Lifer. It’s out on October 20, and there’s ‘Hired Gun’ from it above. That natty corkscrew riff and the ensuing lurch pack a double-header of particularly satisfying guitar grind – bring forth the album, say we.
Other than touring, the band have been mighty busy it seems, with side projects – bass player John Jones’ Nerftoss and guitarist Zachary Utz and drummer David Jacober’s Holy Ghost Party – as well as singer Andrew Laumann exhibiting his fine art in Brooklyn, Paris and Mexico City. They returned to recording in January of this year, heading to New York’s Serious Business Recording Studio to work with producer Travis Harrison. Stay tuned for updates on the record, and read tQ editor John Doran’s interview with Dope Body here.
