Get your chops wrapped round this slab of quality noise rock

Baltimore four piece Dope Body have signed to Drag City for their new album Natural History, which will see release on June 4th. Nine tracks of hefty, blistering noise rock, it pretty much shook the foundations of the Quietus office when we spun it for the first time the other day. In advance of its release Drag City have made one of the album’s tracks, ‘Weird Mirror’, available for free download. Right click & hit ‘download’ to get it.

For a bit of background history: having formed in 2008, the quartet originally aimed to write the "simplest one part/one riff/one minute songs" they possibly could do, and showcase them in sweaty basement settings. So far, so rock & roll. Natural History, the label claim, "might be their most COMMERCIALLY ACCESSIBLE album ever – especially if your idea of "commercially accessible" is Half-Machine Lips Moves/Psychic, Powerless…/or "Salad Days"-era punk". Indeed. Either way, it’s done significant damage to our stereo, and we’re eagerly anticipating their promised UK shows when they do make it to our shores.

Dope Body is released through Drag City on June 4th.
