Having last year announced a move into alternative databases from music such as films, books and comics, the team behind Discogs have confirmed the first of those will allow users to sell audio equipment online.
The platform will be called Gearogs and will launch next month, as confirmed by founder and CEO Kevin Lewandowski in an interview with THUMP. "We’ve started Gearogs, because gear is so close to records," he said, adding: "We’re launching a marketplace in April."
Initially launched as a database for tallying different forms of audio equipment, as was originally the case with Discogs, the site wants to become "the largest database of audio equipment on the planet". The database is currently online place the text you want as hyperlink here and the marketplace function will launch next month.
A message on their site says: "With your help we’ll list every turntable, audio recorder, amplifier, effects pedal, microphone, and every other piece of audio gear conceived. Any equipment that records, amplifies, mixes, or reproduces audio, belongs here."
