Following on from their Kone EP in April, Chicago outfit Disappears will be releasing their fourth album on August 26 via Kranky (have a listen to the 20th anniversary the label made for us here), and they’ve put out a preview in the form of ‘Power’:
It’ll be their second release with ex-Milemarker drummer Noah Leger (who, Arrested Development fans, is the drum tech for the Blue Man Group) and, if ‘Power’ is anything to go by, suggests the band have sidelined some of the noise elements of Kone in favour of stripped-back, steely-eyed post-punk, the drums defiantly strident and the guitars turning out both sleek lines and tautly-wound, reverbed stabs.
