Last year, as part of the Museum of Contemporary Art’s stint displaying the David Bowie Is exhibition, the Chicago museum invited Disappears, Kranky’s fine post-punk four-piece and Windy City residents, to perform one of Bowie’s albums in full. Said singer Brian Case: "We unanimously chose Low and began working on it immediately following the recording of [recently released fifth album] Irreal, using it as a way to break out of our regular writing patterns and habits."
Now, just before the band play The Lexington in London this evening, we’ve been given a video of the band’s version of ‘Always Crashing In The Same Car’ – take a look above. Telling us about their approach to playing Low in our interview from last month, Case said: "The A side of that record is somewhat straightforward rock music. So we got through the A side relatively quickly. Then we went back and listened to it. We picked out some of the details and got a little more into it. Through doing that we figured out how we could focus on something differently, how we could make something our own. It was cool. The idea was just to learn a record that’s a huge influence for us but is also considered important. I’m positive it’s going to influence our new stuff in some way."
