The latest episode of Impressions, a series by Moog in which they capture the first improvisations of an artist when introduced to a Moog One synthesizer, features none other than Dev Hynes, aka Blood Orange.
You can take a look at Hynes’ intimate performance above, a piece that morphs from tentative early forays into sweet and submersive soundscapes.
The video, which you can watch above, was filmed at Echo Mountain in Asheville, North Carolina.
Previous entries in the Impressions series include Peter Dyer (Mariah Carey, St. Vincent and more) and Cory Henry, and can be seen here.
Hynes released a mixtape as Blood Orange, Angel’s Pulse, earlier this month. It follows 2018’s Negro Swan, one of the year’s best albums.
He also appeared on short film Moog One: A Meditation On Listening last year, alongside the likes of Suzanne Ciani, Mark Ronson, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Dr. Lonnie Smith.
