Depeche Mode have shared full details of their next album, Memento Mori.
Taking in 12 tracks, the band’s 15th studio album marks their first with the two-piece lineup of Dave Gahan and Martin Gore, following the death last year of co-founder Andy "Fletch" Fletcher. Produced by James Ford with additional production work by Italian musician Marta Salogni, initial work on the album took place during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the resulting work being "inspired directly by that period," according to press materials.
To mark the album’s full announcement, having initially been teased last October, the band have shared lead single ‘Ghosts Again’, for which you can watch a video above. In a statement, Gahan said the track "captures this perfect balance of melancholy and joy," while Gahan added that "it’s not often that we record a song that I just don’t get sick of listening to."
Columbia will release Memento Mori on March 24, 2023.
