Twelve years after its original release British Sea Power are reissuing debut album The Decline of British Sea Power, with enough extras to drown fans in outtakes and B-sides.
As well a vinyl release of the original album and a two-CD release of the album with Decline-era B-sides the band have put together two special packages. The BSP Handbook contains the two CDs and a DVD of rare and unseen footage from the band, whilst The Complete Illustrated British Sea Power collects all the above as well as a CD of demo recordings and the original album and B-sides on two vinyl discs. ‘Out Of My Mind On Dope & Speed’ on record at last!
The re-release sees the band once more collaborate with journalist and author Roy Wilkinson, the older brother of band members Hamilton and Yan, who wrote Do It For Your Mum, a memoir on their father and the band. He provides new narrative for both the Handbook and Complete Illustrated edition, with the latter including testimony and anecdotes from the band’s audience.
In support of the reissue the band will be playing three shows in which they play the album in full. After a warm-up show at Brighton’s Concorde 2 the band will play shows at the Manchester Ritz and Camden Roundhouse. The Roundhouse show has already sold out but tickets are still available for the other two dates.
The reissued version of Decline will be released on June 8 on the band’s own Golden Chariot Records. The album will be available to pre-order from April 20.
