A previously unreleased collaborative album by David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti, dating back to the early 1990s, is to be released this November.
Recorded under the name of Thought Gang, the self-titled album emerged from the pair’s jazz work together between 1992 and 1993. Above, you can hear ‘Woodcutters from Fiery Ships’ from the album.
The label is promising an accompanying video piece for the album created by Lynch himself which will premiere at the upcoming Festival of Disruption in Los Angeles, which takes place from October 13-14. "It is a short video featuring my friends the ants, along with cheese, etc. and one and a half tracks from the upcoming Thought Gang album," says Lynch of the video piece.
Thought Gang emerged following the airing of the second series of Twin Peaks when production on Fire Walk With Me begun. Two tracks from the Thought Gang album – ‘A Real Indication’ and ‘The Black Dog Runs at Night’ – did make it onto the soundtrack for Fire Walk With Me but the pair’s full album never saw the light of day until now.
Sacred Bones will release Thought Gang on LP, CD and digital formats on November 2. You can pre-order the album here.
