Author, and music critic David Keenan has taken part in a 40 minute interview with Bill Drummond, arranged by publishers Faber & Faber, which you can watch above.
Keenan, a longstanding contributor to The Wire and author of England’s Hidden Reverse, a biography of Coil, Current 93 and Nurse With Wound, released his debut novel This Is Memorial Device on February 2.
In the interview he discusses his early dreams of paranormal investigation, the links between heavy metal and Glasgow’s indie music scene, whether books matter in 2017 and why he destroyed every other novel he tried to write.
They also explore the themes of his new book, published on Faber & Faber and described as "A love letter to the small towns of Lanarkshire in the west of Scotland in the late 1970s and early 80s as they were temporarily transformed by the endless possibilities that came out of the freefall from punk rock."
Keenan will also be a guest on tQ’s own weekly podcast The Quietus Hour next week. You can listen to our previous broadcasts here.
