WATCH: Daphni – ‘Pairs’

Watch new video, taken from upcoming Jiaolong album

Dan Snaith, the artist commonly known for his work as Caribou, is about to release his debut album as Daphni. Rougher, rawer and more immediate than his Caribou material, it gathers together a series of excellent and club-centred tracks put together using samples and modular synthesiser. A few have been released before or around in some form for quite a while – ‘Yes I Know’ and the driving ‘Ye Ye’, for example – but the album, entitled Jiaolong, also features a few brand new and unheard tracks. ‘Pairs’, which you can watch the video for above, is a good taste of what to expect from the album – percussion-driven, energetic and live-sounding, in the vein of Theo Parrish, Floating Points or Snaith’s friend/collaborator Four Tet.

Jiaolong is released on 8th October via Snaith’s own label Jiaolong Records. Snaith is also set to DJ all night at Peckham’s Bussey Building on Friday 5th October – tickets are available here.
