Daniel O’Sullivan, also known as one-half of Grumbling Fur, is set to release a new solo album through Tim Burgess’ O Genesis label in April. Taken from it, you can hear lead track ‘Silhouette’ above.
The album, titled Folly, is O’Sullivan’s second under his own name following on from 2017’s VELD. He wrote the new record around the birth of his son Ari and the passing of his friend Ian Johnstone. "Joy is inseparable from suffering and sometimes those polarities arrive at the same moment," O’Sullivan says of this. "Music offers a vessel to contain the unspeakable."
O’Sullivan teamed up with Thighpaulsandra to record and mix the album. It’s due out on April 5, and its release will coincide with a two-night residency for The New Arts & Music Programme at Sutton House in Hackney. O’Sullivan will play music from the album at both nights, and will also be joined by guests including Thighpaulsandra. Find more information on those shows here and here.
