Cuz have released a new video for ‘The Wheel And The Ring’, the final track from their album Tamatebako, and we’ve been given a first look. The band are the collaborative project of Mike Watt, righteous man of celebrated California hardcore act Minutemen, and Sam Dook, multi-instrumentalist for sampledelic Brighton indie band The Go! Team. As the press release explains, the duo set about, "weaving eclectic influence – from Japanese folklore (the ‘tamatebako’ is a Pandora-style box featured in the ‘Urashima Tarō’ legend), through ancient British landmarks, to personal loss – into a heady mix of whisky-gnarl, motorik riff, thrift-store percussion and toy synth, the effect is a tight, groovy, ever-elusive, outsider pop."
‘The Wheel And The Ring’, meanwhile, is a strand of hushed, spooky psych-folk, with Richard Gladman’s video features mystical cards, Lotte Reiniger-esque silhouette animation and kaleidoscopic images – have a watch above.
Their album is out now on Brighton label Bleeding Heart Recordings; head to their site to get hold of a copy.
