Invada, the ace Bristol label home to BEAK>, Thought Forms, College, The Fauns and Adrian Utley’s Guitar Orchestra among others and responsible for some excellent vinyl releases of film soundtracks, including last year’s Solaris OST, have announced their first signing of 2014, the as-yet-anonymous CUTS. There’s currently no information about them, other than them being on the line-up for Invada’s 10th anniversary show as part of ATP’s Netil House Takeover in December, but the label have posted a first video from them. Simply titled ‘CUTS 01’, it sets shots of earthy woodland and a faceless figure digging through the soil to hulking, almost industrial percussion strafed by guitar feedback, amassing some impressive sonic heft over its five minutes. There are inaudible vocals in there, which, in spite of the subtitles, don’t seem to be saying, "three three crash or burn/ baby eat baby eat your stone". When all gets revealed we’re not sure, but until then, have a watch of the video above.
