Secretive Bristol audio-visual artist CUTS has announced a new video, ‘CUTS 05’ and EP, EP1. Since last year CUTS has been releasing a series of chronologically titled videos to accompany doomy, dreamy noise rock tracks. It appears that ‘CUTS 05’ will be the last in the series before the release of the EP, out on August 18 via Invada Records. There will be a vinyl pressing of the EP limited to 300 copies, along with a VHS package of the tracks and corresponding videos with only 30 copies coming out.
‘CUTS 05’s production is pretty intense, with insistent electronic rhythms and layers of ominous distorted synths building over six-and-a-half minutes. Manipulated images of two red-haired dancers are portrayed against stark backgrounds of light and shade, while cryptic subtitles give a strange sense of narrative to the instrumental track – take a look above.
CUTS will also be performing live at The Lexington, London on July 25, sharing the bill with The Twilight Sad as part of the AIM Music Awards, in association with Drowned in Sound; get hold of tickets here.
