More Names For CTM

We'll be there...

The Quietus is pleased to announce that next year for the first time we’re going to be partners with Berlin’s annual CTM Festival, which takes place in the German capital between January 23rd and February 1st. New artists added to the bill for the 16th edition of CTM include Quietus favourites Electric Wizard, Carter Tutti Void, Evian Christ Live, Mondkopf’s Extreme Precautions, Nisennenmondai, Rose Kallal & Mark O Pilkington, Prostitutes and E.E.K featuring Islam Chipsy. Also on the bill are some of our favourite Polish acts, including Piotr Kurek and We Will Fail. Also just announced are Lydia Ainsworth, Marcus Schmickler, Lawrence English, Aleksi Perälä, Thomas Ankersmit, Gajek, TeZ, Yung Lean & Sad Boys, Suicideyear, Senyawa and Sote.

This excellent array of artist join already announced artists, who’ll be playing venues including Berghain, including: an Alec Empire piece Low on Ice with visuals by Zan Lyons, Emptyset’s Signal, Craig Leon’s Nommos, Simian Mobile Disco’s Whorl, Jenny Hval and Susanna’s wonderful Meshes of Voice, our album of the year artist Gazelle Twin, Klara Lewis and more especially commissioned pieces including Pierce Warnecke & Matthew Biederman’s Perspection, Lucio Capece’s RX-11 Space Drum Machine, Elisabeth Schimana Höllenmaschine and the CTM 2015 Radio Lab: Claire Tolan’s Always Here for You.

The theme of this year’s CTM is Un Tune, which the organisers say "aims to engage with the direct bodily effects of frequencies, sound, and music, as well as these phenomena’s synergistic effects with other sensory stimuli. Artistic experimentation with the affective and somatic effects of sounds and frequencies opens up possibilities of tuning and de-tuning the composite that interconnects body, matter, energy, and (musical) machines – and of exploring our perception." For more on the theme, tickets and further info, visit the CTM website.
