Their first new material after a 21-year hiatus, following last year’s reunion, it’s a formidable presage for the album, which we can vouch is an impressive return to form: Simon Bonney’s seemingly channelling the spirit of Jon Spencer over a hot-blooded, coursing Bad Seeds-esque arrangement, with a band including Berlin-era members Bronwyn Adams and Alexander Hacke.
