Cramps Singer Lux Interior Dies

1946 - 2009

Cramps singer Lux Interior, born Erick Lee Purkhiser, has died aged 62, it was confirmed overnight.

Rumours of the death of Interor began to surface yesterday, but it was suspected that the news might be a hoax. However the band’s publicist revealed that Lux Interior died on Wednesday morning (February 4th) in Glendale, California from a known heart condition.

"Lux was a fearless frontman who transformed every stage he stepped on into a place of passion, abandon, and true freedom. He is a rare icon who will be missed dearly," said the publicist in a statement.

Interior founded the Cramps in 1972 with Poison Ivy, who would later become his wife.
