Crack Cloud will release their second album later this year.
Titled Tough Baby, the 10-track album follows on from the Vancouver collective’s 2020 debut full-length Pain Olympics. The new album, the group’s Zach Choy said in a statement, reflects his view that the band’s members "are always maturing emotionally with our experiences, and so how we understand and express them evolves over our lifetime." The record’s title, he added, "is an allusion to our planet, to our culture, and to ourselves." You can watch a video for lead track ‘Please Yourself’ above.
Speaking about the visual, Choy said: "The subtext of the video is really as follows: art is a mechanism for healing and discovery. You learn through it, and you grow with it. In our culture we’re predisposed to quantifying art, to sanctioning it, and to manufacturing it. But underneath all of that, it is a form of living inquiry; it’s how we learn to unravel the extremities in life so that we may better understand ourselves, and each other."
Meat Machine will release Tough Baby on September 16, 2022.
